La rivalidad Knicks-Bulls tiene más ruido que nueces últimamente

Look, when you talk Bulls and Knicks, you're supposed to conjure up images of classic slugfests, right? Jordan vs. Ewing, Pat Riley barking from the sidelines, Madison Square Garden rocking. But lately, especially if you're like me, constantly scanning the college landscape for the next big thing, this rivalry feels less like a heavyweight bout and more like a preseason scrimmage.

Here's the thing: everyone's buzzing about this matchup, but the actual games haven't exactly been nail-biters. Remember that October 31, 2025 game? Bulls beat the Knicks 135-125. Josh Giddey, a guy who could have been a college superstar for longer if he'd gone that route, dropped a career-high 32 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, and dished out nine assists. Nikola Vucevic added 26 points. That’s a lot of offense, sure, but a 10-point margin isn't exactly a buzzer-beater.

Where's the Edge?

Real talk: the Bulls have a 4-6 record in their last 10 games against New York. Not exactly dominance. And in their last five? Chicago is 2-3 against the Knicks. It tells you these teams are pretty evenly matched, but not in a "wow, this is must-see TV" kind of way. It's more like two middle-of-the-pack teams trading blows. The Knicks did win the most recent tilt on February 22, 2026, a 105-99 affair where Karl-Anthony Towns — another guy who only played one year in college — put up 28 points and 11 boards. That's a closer game, but still, no last-possession drama.

Thing is, I think a lot of the "buzz" around this rivalry right now stems from historical cachet, not current performance. When you're looking for real competitive fire, you're watching Duke vs. Carolina, or whoever is battling for a one-seed in March. These NBA games, even with a healthy scoreline like the Bulls’ 135-125 win, often lack that desperation, that "every possession matters" feel that makes college basketball so compelling. Maybe it’s just me, but I'd trade Giddey's 32-point night for a hard-fought ACC tournament final any day.

My bold prediction: Unless one of these teams makes a seismic trade for a true superstar, the next five games between the Bulls and Knicks will continue to be entertaining enough, but none will define either franchise's season.
